MONEY EDUCATION DAILY™
DAY 03 • PRESERVE MONEY
Give Every Naira a Purpose.
A budget is not a restriction on your money. It is a plan that tells your money where to go before it disappears.
THE PRINCIPLE
Money without a plan is easily spent without a purpose.
Earning money is only one part of financial success. What happens after you receive the money matters just as much. A purposeful budget helps you decide what your money should accomplish before you spend it.
TODAY'S LESSON
Tell your money where to go.
A budget is simply a plan for your money. It helps you intentionally allocate your income to the things that matter most.
Without a plan, money often flows toward whatever demands attention first. Small purchases can accumulate, unnecessary expenses can become habits, and important financial goals can be neglected.
A good budget gives every naira a job. It helps you provide for today while also preparing for tomorrow.
Don't ask only, "Can I afford this?"
Ask, "Does this deserve a place in my financial plan?"
GIVE YOUR MONEY A JOB
01. Needs
Housing, food, transportation, utilities and other essential responsibilities.
02. Savings
Set aside money for emergencies, future needs and important financial goals.
03. Giving
Plan intentionally for generosity and the causes you believe are important.
04. Investing
Allocate part of your resources toward productive assets and long-term wealth creation.
05. Enjoyment
Allow room for responsible enjoyment without allowing lifestyle spending to control your finances.
WHY THIS MATTERS
A budget gives your financial goals a fighting chance.
CONTROL
Know where your money goes.
Tracking your income and expenses helps you identify patterns and make better decisions.
CLARITY
Prioritize what matters.
A budget forces you to decide which financial responsibilities and goals deserve priority.
DISCIPLINE
Spend intentionally.
Planning before spending reduces impulsive decisions and helps you remain aligned with your financial goals.
PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Give your next income a purpose.
Before your next income arrives, create a simple plan for how you intend to allocate it.
BIBLICAL WISDOM
Purposeful planning is wisdom.
Scripture encourages thoughtful planning and disciplined stewardship. Financial resources should not simply be consumed; they should be managed with wisdom and purpose.
"The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want."
Proverbs 21:5
REFLECTION
Before you spend, ask yourself.
